Apartment
mold is a serious issue, especially if
you live in a rented space that has apartment
mold. Many times, the owner is reluctant to take
any responsibility or action for visible mold
or to check for mold, thus making it difficult
for you.
Before signing any contracts, ask the owner whether
they have apartment mold in the house. If they
say they have mold, ask them what they are willing
to do about it. Sometimes, the owner might not
tell you the complete truth. In such cases, it
is best to request a mold inspection before moving
in.
If you move in, and find the apartment
mold later, it could be that your possessions
from a previous apartment are infected. In this
case, you need to take responsibility for the
problem, by cleaning out the possessions, and
cleaning up the mold.
However, if the mold is a result of negligence
on the part of the owner, you can state the problem
in writing and ask him to take suitable action.
If the problem is severe, you can even notify
the health department. However, the owner might
not particularly like this.Check apartment
mold for testing information.
Ultimately, you and the owner, both have to take
responsibility for the problem and work towards
an effective solution to remedy it.
